### Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced band 5, or existing band 6, Occupational therapist to join our integrated therapy teams on a 8 month secondment, based in the acute setting at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

You will rotate across general medicine , respiratory medicine , the acute medical unit, colorectal and vascular surgery .

You will experience a wide range of complex medical conditions requiring advanced assessment and discharge planning skills, support and supervise junior members of the team and contribute to innovative service development across the department.

### Main duties of the job

You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team, working within an integrated model of care to provide timely assessments, rehabilitation and support with discharge planning for our patients.

You will gain experience of working in a busy and pro-active environment where evidence based practice is embedded and joint working, service development and CPD is encouraged.

As a band 6 you will receive support from the band 7 team leader and peers. You will be expected to provide supervision to more junior staff and students.

The service operates over seven days and as such some weekend working is required as part of the role.

- Ability to use advanced clinical reasoning, making professional judgements in complex and challenging situations
- Ability to work over 7 days
- Excellent organisational skills including time management, prioritising and the ability to complete a task.
- Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for specialist clinical caseload.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Specialist Knowledge anatomy/physiology related to specialist areas
- Knowledge of how clinical governance affects practice, including quality, audit and risk management
- To have an understanding of and adhere to relevant Trust/national policies and procedures including, but not limited to, data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven post grad experience in relevant area(s)
- Autonomous post grad CPD
- MDT/Partnership working
- Teaching and supervising others
- Service development
- Experience of liaison with other professionals and partnership working
- Involvement in and responsibility for service development activity

### Registration / Qualification

**Essential**

- Professional Qualificaton in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Post graduate training in specialist areas

**Desirable**

- Clinical educator accreditation
