### Main duties of the job

Your Role: Specialist Pharmacist

Take the lead in delivering safe, efficient medication services in our busy Category B local prison where your expertise truly counts.

What you'll do:

- Leadership – organisation, planning and co-ordination of all pharmacy services on-site.
- 1:1 Patient Care – help patients to optimise their medicines by tailoring medicines and support to the individual patient needs and run pharmacy-led clinics
- Controlled drugs management – work alongside the senior pharmacist to lead on all controlled drugs processes and compliance, upholding The Misuse of Drugs Act.
- Oversight of DFM Pathway– lead our dependence forming medication pathway, identifying at risk patients and ensuring they are scheduled MDT reviews.
- Drive quality improvement – contribute to MDTs on medication-related issues and guide colleagues on safer, more effective medication management practices

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, other prisons, or community pharmacy
- Pharmacy legal requirements and controlled drug legislation knowledge

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
- Has a good understanding of security issues in relation to the prison environment

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Minimum Bachelor or Masters (BPharm or MPharm) Degree in Pharmacy and further relevant post-graduate qualifications.
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacist
- Non-medical prescribing qualification

### Experience & Skills

**Essential**

- Leadership and decision making skills. Has a strategic vision and the ability to plan and review.
- Experience of working within challenging and complex situations both autonomously and part of a team.
- Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with substance misusers/services
- Experience of working in a prison environment or similar setting
