The Newcastle Learning Disability Team are happy to be offering an exciting opportunity for Band 6 , Specialist Physiotherapist to work into our paediatric physiotherapy offer within Hadrian School and Sir Charles Parsons School.

The Newcastle Learning Disability Team is a multidisciplinary service working closely with our colleagues within the Newcastle and Gateshead Children and Young People's Services, as well as other health services in the locality and specific education services.

The successful post holder will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality patient care, good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate prioritisation of workload. Key components of the role will be to ensure the service offer a safe, caring, responsive and well-led service.

The role will include liaising with children and young people, families and carers, agencies such as social care, service providers, education providers, inpatient services, safeguarding, and a range of other agencies. Within this team we pride ourselves on having a broad range of knowledge within these selected areas and ability to manage the risks associated with this.

### Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the specialist assessment, management and physiotherapy service provision for children and young people who have a learning disability, a variety of complex physiotherapy needs, mental health concerns and /or neurological conditions.

To manage and provide on-going specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment using evidence based practice.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing.

To facilitate the delivery of Physiotherapy Student Education within the clinical setting.

To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

To provide clinical supervision and leadership to staff as delegated by the team lead

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives
- Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of providing Physiotherapy services.
- Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies
- Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
- Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required.
- Experience of supervising students / non registered staff

**Desirable**

- Clinical experience relevant to this role
- Knowledge of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services
- Knowledge of audit, research and evaluation

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent
- Registered with HCPC
- Further relevant post qualifying training.

**Desirable**

- Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
