### Job summary

Permanent Static Band 6 Physiotherapist, 37.5 hours per week, Trauma and Orthopaedics In-patient Team based at South Tyneside Hospital but will include working on both Trust sites.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our experienced and supportive Orthopaedic Inpatient physiotherapy team.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance and consolidate your specialist knowledge and skills to provide safe, effective, high quality and evidence-based physiotherapy to a wide range of Elective and Trauma In-patients and Day Case patients at South Tyneside Hospital.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop research, teaching and leadership skills and we offer support with training and development through courses, in-service training, appraisals and supervision.

The successful candidate will work as part of the physiotherapy and wider multi-disciplinary teams.

This role includes weekend working and will involve cross-site working, as required.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of the physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care and facilitate discharge of patients from the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards and Day Case.

The main duties of the job include:

The assessment and treatment of post-operative and conservatively managed Trauma and Orthopaedic In- patients and Orthopaedic Day Case patients.

To participate in ward rounds and MDT meetings

To contribute to service developments and quality improvement.

To provide clinical support and supervision for Band 5 staff and Support Workers, as well as supervision of students

To deputise in the absence of senior colleagues as required.

To maintain professional development through participation in relevant professional training programmes

To comply with Trust policies.

### Job responsibilities

1. To work as an autonomous practitioner within a specialist team using specialist clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to an independently managed caseload which will incorporate routine and complex presentation of conditions.

2. To begin to develop specialist skills to take a lead role in clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service and offering specialist advice to planning and service development teams in order to assist in the implementation of service improvements.

3. To consolidate post-graduate skills and continue professional development, including participation in physiotherapy in-service training programmes and external postgraduate training.

4. To develop the clinical education of staff within the specialism and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified and newly qualified Physiotherapists who work under your direct supervision.

5. Participate in research, service development and/or quality improvement activities

- BSc Physiotherapy or equivalent
- HCPC State Registration
- Continuing Professional Development diary including evidence of reflective practice, training and clinical experience
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent
- Basic IT skills
- Evidence of post-graduate competence, knowledge and skills in the advertised post.
