We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to work within the spinal injuries therapy team at the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
The Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre is a modern 60 bedded, Supra Regional Centre for patients who have sustained spinal cord damage as a result of trauma or pathology. Patients are accepted from a wide catchment area that covers South Yorkshire and much of the east of England.
The Physiotherapy department offers a service to all 3 spinal injury wards from a patient’s initial admission, through to discharge and readmission as well as outpatients.
The Centre has 6 beds dedicated to ventilator dependent patients.
The Spinal Injuries Physiotherapy Department includes a designated gym, hydrotherapy pool, weights room and access to a Sports Hall.
There is a well-established multi-disciplinary team where all members work collaboratively in the assessment and management of the patient. This post offers excellent personal and professional development opportunities within a well established team.
As well as offering a specialist service to our catchment area the Centre also has links with the other Spinal Injuries Centres across the United Kingdom and Ireland and liaises regularly regarding the provision of quality services to this patient group.
Main duties of the job
The postholders must be able to demonstrate:-
- Appropriate knowledge and skills to manage a complex neurological caseload
- Previous NHS experience of working with spinal cord injury patients at a Band 5 or Band 6 level
- Evidence of commitment to continuous personal and professional development
- Good basic knowledge of therapy practice for medicine and orthopaedic conditions
- Competency in Physiotherapy clinical reasoning, processes and practices
- Effective interpersonal, communication and team working skills
- Awareness and evidence of application of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals PROUD Values
- A full UK driving license and permissions to drive a manual car
Candidates should possess a BSc/Diploma in Physiotherapy and current
HCPC registration.
