### Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist to join the long term condition therapies team and specifically work within the multi-disciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) service.

The post holder will be involved with the ongoing development of the PR service, with an emphasis on providing both face to face and digital service options to meet the needs of our respiratory population within the health board. We want to see this service continue to be developed and implemented at pace to enable the vision of supporting people in CTMUHB to achieve their maximum potential - physically, cognitively, socially and psychologically (AHP Framework, 2019).

The post holder will need to be passionate about respiratory medicine and rehabilitation, be flexible and embrace change, and work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team setting. Innovation and passion for improving patient care are essential, with confidence to incorporate digital skills within service delivery. You will be working with not only the PR team but also linking with the wider HB respiratory team, physiotherapy team and across therapies within a Long Term Condition Management team. This will offer excellent opportunities for learning and development within the respiratory and rehabilitation area of physiotherapy.

### Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard pulmonary rehabilitation service that ensures best current, evidence based clinical management of respiratory patients. Working within a variety of settings, the post holder will be expected to plan and organise their own caseload, providing physiotherapy assessment, education and rehabilitation plans for patients within the specialty, balancing other patient related and professional demands in order that the physiotherapy case load meets with University Health Board objectives.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility from the lead physiotherapist for the pulmonary rehabilitation service, providing specialist assessments and advice on pulmonary rehabilitation, therapeutic interventions and to liaise with and advise patients/parents/guardians/carers and others as required.

The post holder will be required to supervise physiotherapy Health Care Support Workers, guide/mentor band 5 physiotherapists and physiotherapy students. The post holder will work with and regularly teach, assess and contribute to the performance assessment and appraisal of Band 5 newly qualified physiotherapists (Band 5) and physiotherapy Health Care Support Workers (Bands 2/3/4).

There will also be a responsibility for teaching student physiotherapists to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical areas.

This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

- Willingness and ability to carry our full range of duties of the post ( to include travel round various bases and carry out on call duties)

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards (local and national)
- Evidence of broad spectrum clinical knowledge/ skills base

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of NICE Guidelines relevant to area of work.

### Experience

**Essential**

- To have gained full experience within core band 5 rotations including respiratory/critical care, trauma & Orthopaedics, neurology, general medicine and MSK outpatients
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team and independently

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in community settings

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Health Professions Council registration

**Desirable**

- Evidence of attendance on appropriate courses to enhance specialist rehabilitation knowledge/ skills e.g. Motivational interviewing/Behaviour change Training/ Communication skills/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation exercise courses/ BACPR Exercise provision course
- Evidence of Digital qualifications
- Recent Completion of valiated CIinical Educators course

### Apitude and Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to keep accurate and legibile notes and keyboard/it skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise - good time management

**Desirable**

- Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above
