An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated, dedicated and innovative Physiotherapist to join our workforce of band 6 MSK Specialist Physiotherapists on a permanent Basis.

Our MSK staff rotate between outpatient templates covering clinics across the Salford footprint. We have a robust induction and training schedule and you will be supported by the Physiotherapy Operational and Professional Lead, Clinical Leads and other MDT colleagues.

You will be expected to support the wider team and assist in the development of services within the MSK environment. Therefore, the ability to work as part of a team, leadership skills and experience of supervising staff and students are essential criteria.

You should have significant post registration experience including a minimum of 3 years experience working at a Band 5 level (or above) not only in MSK but also in a variety of speciality areas.

You will need to be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patients; an understanding of the National Guidelines / Standards, as well as evidence of post graduate training relevant to the MSK setting .

Highly developed communication skills, flexibility, good organisational skills and time management skills are all essential criteria. Basic IT skills are also required.

### Main duties of the job

To deliver a wide variety of clinical work within the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service in the hospital and also within the community clinic setting. This includes working with patients who have a variety of complex needs, e.g.:

- Orthopaedic Post-op patients
- Degenerative Conditions
- Chronic Pain
- Self-referral patient

Assess and treat own caseload of patients who have complex presentations and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner

Review patients on a 1:1 basis as well as deliver therapy and education in class settings.

To lead assessment, liaison and decision making processes for patients.

To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.

To support the Band 7/8a in the planning, co-ordination and evaluation of the MSK Physiotherapy Service on a day-to-day basis, and to cover for any other area with this specific caseload as necessary.

### Experience, knowledge and skills

**Essential**

- Experience in all core areas, incl Respiratory, community, neuro, MSK and ACM
- Evidence of ongoing CPD in clinical practice relevant to MSK
- Evidence of advanced Team Work / MDT working in a clinical setting
- Evidence of supervising students and other staff members in the NHS using PARE
- Evidence of contribution to QI / service development work
- Evidence of assessing and treating a wide variety of patients in a MSK setting
- Evidence of confident communication including ability to adapt communication and deal with conflict.
- Evidence of clear clinical reasoning in a MSK setting including autonomous decision making
- Demonstrates a wide MSK knowledge base to include acute and long term condition management, ability to follow post operative pathways and chronic pain management.
- 12-18 months experience within MSK
- Understanding of and practical application of guidelines, standards and pathways relevant to MSK working
- Good organisational and time management skills

**Desirable**

- Experience of NHS clinical hands on experience in a MSK setting \> 1 year
- Awareness of EDI and how encorporates into clinical practice with relevance to a MSK setting
- Completion of recognised clinical educators course
- leading on a QI project in a MSK setting
