### Job overview

We are looking for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join the Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health (ALDH) Service . The service is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs.

We cover 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability and how to make reasonable adjustments.

The service prides itself on delivering high quality support to service users with a variety of physical and mental health issues alongside their Learning Disability. All staff are required to use a range of communication and listening skills to work effectively with our service users.

Where necessary you will be required to work at other bases or work remotely from home.

### Main duties of the job

The Physiotherapy Team consists of practitioners with specialist experience of working with Adults with a Learning Disability whose needs are unable to be met by mainstream services with reasonable adjustments. The team supports individuals, families and carers to understand an individual’s physiotherapy needs and identify person centred treatment plans to be implemented into an individual physiotherapy plan.

Service hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

- Castlewood, Tickenham Road, Clevedon, North Somerset BS21 6FW
- Church House 1 Church Road Soundwell Bristol BS16 4RH

## Person Specification

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
- Has HCPC registration
- Evidence of reflective practice and continuing professional development

**Desirable**

- CSP membership
- Relevant postgraduate training (Oxford Postural Management Course / Aquatic therapy)
- Student Assessor/Supervisor/mentoring qualification

### Skills, Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Post qualification experience of working with adults with a learning disability
- Experience in the core physiotherapy areas
- Experience of in multi-disciplinary working
- Ability to train other professional groups
- Working knowledge of clinical governance and the Mental Capacity Act
- Specialist knowledge of physiotherapy in learning disabilities/mental health

**Desirable**

- Able to supervise students to exam level
- Experience of working within a community learning disability service
- Experience of complex care-coordination including service users placed out of area
