We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with mental health experience to join our CTMUHB Memory Service.

In this role, you will work within the Occupational Therapy Memory Service Team, contributing specialist assessment and intervention as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. The service applies the Cognitive Disabilities Model in practice, supporting individuals living in the community who are experiencing changes in cognitive functioning, including mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, with the aim of promoting independence and maintaining functional ability.

You will benefit from regular professional supervision as well as peer supervision and support through the Band 6 Professional Development Forum.

### Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will:

Conduct comprehensive OT assessments to inform intervention plans, identify strengths, and develop adaptive strategies.

Play a vital role in maintaining independence, promote self-management,  and support inclusion.

Actively contribute to risk assessment, ensuring effective risk management in collaboration with the MDT.

Provide an occupational perspective within MDT care plans.

- Possess a current enhanced DBS certificate indicating an eligibility to work with vulnerable children and adults.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered member of the Health Professional Council.

- Knowledge of standardised and non-standardised assessments that can be used with service user group.

### Aptitude and abilities

**Essential**

- Demonstrable clinical reasoning skills, and able to make effective clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.
- Autonomous practitioner with excellent personal organisational skills for caseload management, including time management and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and non-judgemental approach within challenging or distressing situations.
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.

**Desirable**

- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
- Understanding of the theory and practical application goal orientated approach.
