NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist with a particular interest in working with young people (aged up to 18 years) who have mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental issues. You will be based in North CAMHS, Woodside Health & Care Centre and will help to deliver an Occupational Therapy Service within a multi-disciplinary setting. Whilst experience of working in either mental health or paediatrics is desirable, it is not essential, as we recognise that a desire to work in this area will be the key to your success in this post. The post aims to extend an Occupational Therapy service that is already established and well respected within the team. You will be supported by a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist in the role and be part of a wider CAMHS Occupational Therapy Team that is growing and expanding. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing young people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and may have co-morbid neurodevelopmental issues. You may be seeking a sideways move to a new and different field, or a promotion. Regardless of your background, you will be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary interpersonal and communication skills to work with children, young people and their families. You should be HCPC registered and have relevant experience in Occupational Therapy that you can transfer to this role.

NHSGGC offers a collaborative environment, strong professional support, and opportunities for continuous development. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your expertise while shaping high-quality services for young people and their families. Be part of an organisation committed to innovation, compassion, and delivering outstanding care.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

- Woodside Health & Care Centre
- Shift pattern to be confirmed
- Permanent, full-time

Key responsibilities:

- Assess, plan and deliver specialist occupational therapy interventions for children and young people with complex mental health and neurodevelopmental needs
- Manage and prioritise an autonomous caseload, ensuring effective, evidence-based care and positive outcomes
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and across partner agencies to support holistic care planning
- Contribute to diagnostic and formulation processes, including joint assessments and clinical decision-making
- Provide supervision, guidance and support to junior staff, support workers and students
- Deliver training and education to families, carers and professionals to enhance understanding and outcomes
- Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement and implementation of best practice

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

- You will be provided with an induction that includes both Occupational Therapy specific and multi-disciplinary input and will be given access to regular CPD opportunities. We are committed to providing regular supervision, as well as developing reflective practice and evidence based interventions
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge and experience in mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions within a CAMHS or similar setting
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and risk management skills with ability to work independently
- Evidence of continuous professional development and application of evidence-based practice
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary or multi-agency teams
- Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, assessment tools and outcome measures
- Effective communication, organisational and IT skills, with ability to manage competing demands

What we offer:

We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.

As an NHS Scotland employee, you will be entitled to:

- A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays
- Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance benefits
- Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme
- Development opportunities including study bursaries, e-learning and classroom-based courses
- Enhanced pay for working public holidays
- NHS discounts on a wide range of goods and services
- Confidential employee support and assistance, including counselling and psychological therapies
