## Job Content

### Job overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Nurse with a keen interest in developing leadership skills and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within our well-established Medium  secure personality disorder ward.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our clinically led, operationally enabled Forensic Division within a 15-bedded low secure unit, supporting individuals with complex needs, with a focus on rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.

You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care, contributing to a positive patient experience. Working closely with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary team, you will support the day-to-day clinical leadership of the ward and act as a role model for best practice.

While experience within forensic services would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are committed to supporting the successful candidate in developing the knowledge and skills required within this specialist area.

You will work within the Medium Secure estate on Swale Ward and support services across the Medium Secure Wards at the Humber Centre, contributing to service development and quality improvement in line with Trust objectives.

### Main duties of the job

As a valued member of staff, you will receive a comprehensive induction to the Trust and team.  A bespoke training passport is in place for Humber Centre staff, including a Forensic Induction, Trauma-Informed Care training, a structured buddy system, and a protected supernumerary period to support your transition.

Staff wellbeing is a key priority, with established support systems including regular clinical and managerial supervision, weekly reflective practice, and team debriefs following shifts, promoting a positive and supportive working environment.

In this role, you will deliver high standards of evidence-based, person-centred care to individuals with complex mental health needs within a low secure forensic setting. You will support the day-to-day coordination of the ward, including acting in a leadership capacity in the absence of the Ward Manager.

You will act as a named nurse, coordinating care planning, risk assessment, and reviews in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The role includes promoting a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.

You will provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students, contribute to risk management and clinical governance, and participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives. You will also work collaboratively across Low and Medium Secure services to support continuity of care.
