Provide specialist consultation to clinicians and develop Psychological Birth Care Plans. Create and facilitate innovative resources, groups, and webinars for BIM clients. Build strong links with local maternity services. Required: Band 6 NMC Registered Midwife able to take on the role in addition to current contracted hours. Contract: 0.2 WTE (one day per week) for 9 months, based between RBH and Erlegh House. Apply your leadership skills to improve access for minoritised and hard-to-reach populations. ### Main duties of the job ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities This is a key role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and birthing people with Severe Fear of Birth or PTSD to their birth experiences who are accessing support through Birth in Mind The post holder will have current relevant knowledge and skills to provide support and care to pregnant women with complex mental health disorders in partnership with staff within Birth in Mind, and in liaison with other appropriate services to facilitate perinatal support. The post holder will provide expert midwifery knowledge and offer consultation to the staff of Birth in Mind in regards to developing and reviewing Psychological Birth Care Plans and interventions for women suffering with Fear of Birth in line with current hospital policy and processes. The postholder will meet with BIM clients in conjunction with BIM staff as appropriate. The post holder will have a key role in developing resources including groups and webinars to support women with Fear of Birth and PTSD to their birth experience. The post holder will facilitate the development of strong links between the Birth in Mind service and local maternity services including but not limited to RBH, Wexham Park and Frimley Hospitals. The post holder will contribute to the development and facilitation of group and webinar interventions for BIM clients. The post holder will provide specialist knowledge and consultation to support the understanding of colleagues working within the Birth Trauma Pathway The post holder will deliver/co-deliver training on Fear of Birth, Birth Trauma and the Birth in Mind service both within Birth in Mind and other services within a networking role. The post holder will contribute to the BIM commitment to improving access for harder to reach and minoritised populations. As this role is time limited, the post holder will be responsible for developing mechanisms with which their contributions while working within BIM can be maintained once the role has ended. This role will be based at Erlegh House in Reading Whiteknights campus and the post holder will be expected to attend at Erlegh House and travel to relevant sites within Berkshire as required. ## Person Specification ### Essential **Essential** - To be currently in active midwifery practice within a hospital setting - Experience within perinatal mental health provision for pregnant women within NHS or recognised voluntary sectors in the UK or abroad. - Experience of managing of defined caseload in clinical practice including patients living with social, physical, psychological or financial vulnerabilities - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, using a range of methods, e.g. verbal, written, record keeping, complex report writing. **Desirable** - Qualification or professional diploma in Perinatal Mental Health, Counselling or Adult Mental Health - Experience developing of policies or protocols - Evidence of delivering educational with associated feedback and evaluations, internally and/or externally to the organisation.
