### Main duties of the job

- Deliver specialist dietetic assessment, care planning, and interventions for patients with diabetes across community and hospital settings

- Provide evidence-based dietary advice for type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes

- Plan and deliver structured education programmes for patients and healthcare professionals

- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nurses, GPs, and community staff

- Support behaviour change through effective communication, counselling techniques, and patient-centred care

- Develop and review patient information resources and education materials

- Participate in audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives

- Provide training and support to student dietitians and other healthcare professionals

- Manage and prioritise your own caseload while maintaining accurate clinical records

The “must haves” for this role:

- BSc (Hons) Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics (or equivalent) and HCPC registration

- Strong clinical reasoning skills with the ability to assess, plan, and evaluate nutritional care for people with diabetes

- Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to support behaviour change and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

## Person Specification

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience
- Experience in delivering diabetes education in a 1:1 setting.
- Experience in delivering group education programmes for people with diabetes.

**Desirable**

- Experience in use of psychological techniques and counselling approach in patient consultations.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programmes for other health professionals
- Previous experience using virtual platforms for patient consultations

### Additional Requirements

- Car driver and owner

### Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent presentation and teaching skills.
- Good computer skills with confidence in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, email, and dietetic nutritional analysis software packages

### Education/Qualifications/Training

**Essential**

- BSc (Hons) Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent of post graduate qualification in dietetics
- UK registered with Health Professional Council

**Desirable**

- Member of the British Dietetic Association
- Postgraduate Certificate in Diabetes Care

### Continuous Professional Development

**Desirable**

- Attended clinical student Supervisory Skills course
- Attended a clinical/non-clinical Teaching Skills course
- Member of a professional special interest group in diabetes (DMEG)
- Post registration experiences and / or training in psychological approaches to patient care, such as cognitive behaviour therapy course
