### Job overview

We are looking for a Clinical Fellow in Cardiology based at Wexham Park Hospital to join our busy department with a Primary PCI Service.

Experience of working in Cardiology at registrar level or (IMT3 equivalent or above) is necessary. The duties include seeing inpatient referrals to cardiology, conducting clinic and diagnostic procedures and performing ward rounds of the cardiac inpatients on CCU and step-down ward.

There will be opportunities to train in outpatient areas of Cardiology including Cath lab sessions, Echocardiography or other imaging modalities and undertake an audit or quality improvement project. There are departmental educational meeting and attendance is encouraged. Consultant supervision to discuss inpatients will be provided daily, and a consultant ward round will take place daily on CCU with twice weekly Ward rounds on CSDU and daily board rounds.

### Main duties of the job

Wexham Park Hospital is a busy DGH with a primary PCI service. We have eleven consultants delivering all emergency, acute and elective care for inpatients and outpatient.

This position will provide an opportunity to gain experience and confidence in managing patients presenting with a range of acute cardiac conditions. Experience of working in Cardiology at registrar level or (IMT3 equivalent or above) is necessary.

Currently this is a Mon to Fri - 8am to 5pm role for purely cardiology - with no GIM or on call commitments.

The duties include seeing inpatient referrals to cardiology, conducting clinic and diagnostic procedures and performing ward rounds of the cardiac inpatients on CCU and step-down ward. There will be opportunities to train in outpatient areas of Cardiology including Cath lab sessions,

Echocardiography or other imaging modalities and undertake an audit or quality improvement project. There are departmental educational meeting and attendance is encouraged.

Wexham Park Hospital have close links with Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust who support our Heart team MDT; this position will give the post holder the opportunity to gain experience in presenting and managing cases who require Tertiary Centre input along with working closely with Consultant colleagues to support.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Two years in CT level Acute General Medicine with experience of Acute on call
- Minimum one year NHS experience
- At least two years’ experience post completion of 2-year Foundation training programme.
- Medical on call commitments

**Desirable**

- Cardiology specific commitments and experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBCH or equivalent
- Full MRCP (PACES) or equivalent
- Full GMC at the time of application

**Desirable**

- Additional relevant Higher Degree (Masters or Doctorate)

### Skills & Knowledge

**Essential**

- An advanced and developing clinical capability in General Medicine care
- Ability to manage Acute and General Medical emergencies with experience in providing medical care for Adults.
- An appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems
- Ability to prioritize clinical need
- Ability to maximize safety and minimize risk
- Ability to work without supervision where appropriate
