THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE

We are pleased to offer this opportunity to work with the team at The Welsh Centre for Cleft Lip & Palate. We are based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea and provide a service for those born with a cleft palate and velopharyngeal disorder across South Wales. This post will require you to deliver therapy to children living in the east of Wales which could include locations such as Cardiff, Newport, and Ebbw Vale.

You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary cleft team and will deliver therapy for children with cleft speech characteristics. You will be supported by, and work alongside, experienced cleft SLTs and SLTAs.

### Main duties of the job

You will have highly developed auditory, perceptual and empathy skills to be able to accurately assess and provide differential diagnosis.

You will have knowledge of evidence-based practice in relation to cleft palate/velopharyngeal dysfunction and be able to apply this to your management plan for patients.

You will be responsible for the organisation and planning of your own specialist caseload.

You will contribute specialist professional expertise to the multi-disciplinary team across South Wales.

You will deliver formal and informal training to relevant staff, carers and other professionals as appropriate.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Welsh language skills are desirable

### Essential Qualifications and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree
- Specialist knowledge of cleft palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction
- Experience of delivering specialist therapy
- Experience of supervising students or SLTAs

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of contribution to clinical audit or research in own specialist area
- Completed CAPS-A training
- Has completed relevant post-graduate training courses
