### Job overview

An exciting opportunity as arisen to work within a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, providing CAMHS assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents and their families who have been referred from within the existing service who require extra support to promote their social inclusion into the community. Clients will be experiencing severe, complex and enduring psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties. The post holder will carry out this process in consultation as appropriate with the client and the family, fellow team members, other professionals, and the referrer. Powys CAMHS has well established links with partner agencies, neighbouring CAMHS services and educational establishments. Individuals are encouraged to work autonomously with appropriate support and guidance from senior team members.

This post is advertised as a Band 6, however applicants that are undertaking the relevant qualification who do not yet currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby 70% of the top of Band 6 will be payable during the first 12 months, 75% for the second 12 months or until qualification has been completed.

We would particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers; but even if you don’t speak any Welsh, or want to develop your skills, don’t worry: the health board will support you with training.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated specialist practitioner to join our CAMHS Service. The successful applicant will be based in a community based service across the communities of Powys. travelling between North and South Powys will be required

- Lead the development of a dedicated pathway to support reintegration into the community, promoting independence, social inclusion, and improved quality of life.
- Support the development of staff and strengthen the interface between primary and secondary care to ensure coordinated, person-centred care packages.
- Facilitate opportunities for young people to reconnect with their communities through education, volunteering, and social activities, including innovative approaches such as peer groups and nature-based interventions.
- Plan and deliver evidence-based clinical interventions for children and young people with serious mental illness and complex presentations.
- Act as Care Coordinator in line with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010, adopting a recovery-focused, person-centred approach to co-produce individualised care plans.
- Apply specialist therapeutic skills and NICE-aligned interventions, working autonomously with appropriate supervision while maintaining CAMHS and professional standards.

### Qualifications and/or Knowledge

**Essential**

- Nursing qualification (RMN) (RMNLD) or (RSCN) or School Nursing Qualification, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker
- Specialist training/ experience in working within CAMHS or in a setting with children experiencing Mental Health, emotional Health or Behavioural difficulties

**Desirable**

- Specialist knowledge / training / experience in mental health difficulties in children and adolescents
- Capacity to interact therapeutically with children and young people with mental health difficulties
- Expertise and specialist skills in working with complex cases
- Knowledge and understanding of NICE guidelines
- Safeguarding policies, risk management and identifying areas of risk
- Knowledge of fair access and non-discriminatory practice
- An understanding of the skills needed to provide clinical supervision and some experience of delivering supervision and consultation
- Significant post registration experience of working with children and adolescents with severe and complex mental health problems
- Significant experience in a psychological therapy, e.g. Family Therapy, CBT, SFBT implementing evidencebased treatment plans and packages of care within a recognised therapeutic framework
