Specialist Biomedical Scientist Microbiology (Band 6)

Location: London, UK Salary: Band 6 (in line with current NHS Agenda for Change pay scales)

- Evening and Nights shifts
- Full 247 rota Inc Nights

### Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will have practical experience in:

- Processing high volumes of routine microbiology specimens.
- Culture, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Reading and interpreting routine culture plates.
- Routine bacteriology and associated microbiological investigations.
- Working within ISO 15189/UKAS (or equivalent) accredited laboratory standards.
- Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and turnaround times in a busy diagnostic laboratory.

### Job responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist Microbiology to join a busy NHS laboratory in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing microbiology department processing a large volume of routine diagnostic samples.

Shifts available:

Nights full time

Evening and Nights shifts

Full 247 rota Inc Nights

Experience Required

Essential Requirements

- HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
- Specialist Portfolio must be completed
- BSc (Hons) Degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- A minimum of 4 years' post-registration/postgraduate experience working exclusively within a routine Microbiology laboratory.
- Previous experience in a high-volume hospital laboratory, such as an NHS, government, university teaching, or tertiary referral hospital or large Private laboratories based in the UK
- Confident working independently across all areas of routine microbiology.

- A minimum of 4 years' post-registration/postgraduate experience working exclusively within a routine Microbiology laboratory.
- Previous experience in a high-volume hospital laboratory, such as an NHS, government, university teaching, or tertiary referral hospital or large Private laboratories based in the UK

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc (Hons) Degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
