ABOUT THE ROLE Your focus as Sous Chef will be to support the head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved within budget. Other responsibilities will include: Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.

### Main duties of the job

The Sous Chef role at Avery Healthcare involves supporting the head chef in delivering a high-quality culinary service at Darwin Court Care Home in Lichfield. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing appealing and well-balanced modified diets following IDDSI guidance. They will supervise and guide culinary staff, ensuring the highest hygiene standards are met in food preparation. The role demands an understanding of Avery's food safety management system, as well as the ability to support the team in following it. To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold a relevant catering qualification (such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ) and have at least one year of catering experience. The ideal applicant will demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary services to residents, be adaptable and flexible, and live the values of caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability. A DBS check and proof of eligibility to work in the UK are required.

- Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
