### Job overview

The Bedford Hospital Operations centre is a central facility within the organisation providing 24/7 Site Operational Management across the Trust.

The Hospital at Night (H@N) service, co-ordinated by the Site Management Team, is a multidisciplinary approach to delivering care and treatment with the aim of maintaining patient safety for the out of hour’s period.

We are looking for a Site Technician to join the Hospital at Night service to assist the H@N co-coordinator in maintaining the service.

This role primarily involves undertaking diagnostics for, patients requiring support out of hours.

The H@N Service runs overnight and 24 hours over the weekend so the post holder will predominately work during the out of hour’s period covering nights and long days at weekends.

### Main duties of the job

To assist the H@N co-ordinator in maintaining the service and  undertake any additional duties along with diagnostics within scope of practice.

To undertake collection of blood samples and insert intravenous cannulas and ensure accurate documentation

Ensure correct patient identification and labelling of samples in accordance with the hospital policy.

Obtain consent of patients prior to the procedure and act in accordance with their wishes wherever possible.

Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control standards during all procedures.

Manage Nervecentre devices, ensuring readiness and cleanliness.

To join the H@N handover and feedback meetings

Comply with all health and safety regulations and organisational policies.

Provide support to the Site Operations team to facilitate effective patient flow management. Attend the Trusts mandatory training sessions and undertake additional duties once trained to do so.

To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a registered professional, maintaining confidentiality at all times.   Uphold the Trust values and standards at all times .   To act in a professional manner and ensure Trust standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality of care.    To report any accidents or incidents as described by the Trusts policy and procedures ensuring an open and transparent culture.    To adhere to the Trusts dress code policy, maintaining a smart appearance at all times.

- Proven competency in venepuncture and cannulation (certification or training required).
- Health Care Assistant experience in the hospital setting
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
