Care includes treatments such as IV iron, biologic therapies and blood transfusions, alongside a range of specialist diagnostic tests, within a supportive, patient-centred environment. This Band 6 role involves patient assessment, IV access, infusion delivery, ongoing monitoring and safe discharge. You will work in line with Trust policies and PCU standard operating procedures and collaborate closely with pharmacy and referring clinical teams to ensure safe, timely patient care, with appropriate escalation when required. We are seeking an experienced nurse with strong IV and assessment skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. This secondment offers opportunities to develop specialist infusion skills, enhance clinical assessment capabilities and build advanced competence within a structured and supportive environment. The role also involves supporting the Senior Sisters in maintaining high standards of clinical care, contributing to service improvement and clinical practice development, and promoting a culture of excellence, safety and continuous quality improvement within the PCU. Clinical - To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients, incorporating the standards and philosophy of the department and evidence-based research. - Organise method of care delivery within the department, allocating, prioritising and delegating effectively. This includes responding to capacity and patient dependency requirements. Professional - To demonstrate a professional approach to leadership and management of staff. - To provide clinical support and advice to junior members of staff. Service Management - To assist when necessary, with the definition of nursing standards and maintain the provision and effectiveness of those standards in line with clinical governance. - The post holder will ensure that they are aware of all issues relating to Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance and Clinical Effectiveness and that they carry out their duties in accordance with these frameworks and standards.
