### JOB SUMMARY

The post holder will be part of the Community Equipment Stores team, helping to provide their service through the delivery, assembly, demonstration and collection of assistive equipment within the community.

### KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Vehicle, Freight and Community Equipment Duties

Drive any vehicle allocated within the limits of their driving licence in a careful, lawful manner with special reference to the needs of the persons/equipment being carried.

Carry out daily routine maintenance of their vehicle and minor running repairs (including checking fuel, oil and water levels and topping-up as required, tyre pressures etc.)

Ensure that details of all petrol and oil drawn are recorded in the vehicle log book and the supporting receipts are passed to the controller.

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all individual journeys in the vehicle log book.

Advise the transport controller of vehicle defects as soon as possible.

Ensure that an accident report and IR1 is completed and submitted at the earliest possible opportunity and in any event not later than 48 hours from the date of any accident, however minor, involving the vehicle in their charge.

Wash the vehicle as and when necessary and ensure that the interior is kept clean and tidy.

Operate lifts and ramps on vehicles.

Collect and deliver community equipment, continence products, food supplies and other items associated with the day to day running of the community equipment service as required and be responsible for the loading, unloading and safe custody of all items carried. This includes obtaining the signature of the receiving officer as requested and updating delivery/collection transaction on the device provided.

Loading/Unloading of vehicles with equipment for delivery/which has been collected.

To assist with the operation of a PC based stock control system (i.e. ELMS II) via use of IPad or other electronic device.

Maintain a high standard of confidentiality.

To assemble/move profile beds and other equipment as required in clients homes /Trust facilities, ensuring equipment is left in full working order and all suitable instructions are provided to allow for safe use.

To demonstrate to clients/ carers the generic use of riser recliner chairs and profiling beds such as controllers, side rails and other features as appropriate.

To remove profile beds and other complex equipment within client’s homes/Trust facilities as required, ensuring they are dissembled in the proper manner.

To assess when delivering to/collecting from a location the safest manner and route in which to move the equipment in line with Southern Trust Moving and Handling Policy and Procedures. This includes risk assessment of upstairs deliveries/ collections.

To participate in such training and development programmes, as may be considered necessary.

Any other duties as assigned by the Community Equipment Manager.

NB

It is the policy of the Trust to meet its transport needs by means of a ‘transport pool’ system. Although drivers may be allocated specific vehicle and runs they may be required to drive any of the Trust’s vehicles from time to time subject to the requirements of the Road Traffic Act (NI) 1970 being complied with.
