Sexual Health Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, motivated and hardworking individuals to apply for the position of Band 5 Registered Nurse (preceptorship is available) within the Cumbria Integrated Sexual Health Service or Band 6 for those fully qualified within this specialism.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a specialist nursing contribution to the clinical management of patients with a range of sexual health needs whilst working autonomously but in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The post holder will support  Nurse Triage, undertake Contraceptive, GUM and Young Persons clinical sessions and work within agreed protocols and patient group directions.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- An understanding of clinical governance

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of all aspects of sexual health.
- Knowledge of local and national sexual health strategies and policies

### Experience

**Essential**

- Insertion & Removal of Contraceptive Implants or a willingness to complete training within 2 years
- Ability to work across boundaries in a flexible manner
- Experience of working with computers
- Experience of working with PGDs

**Desirable**

- Experience Working in Sexual Health Services
- To fit and remove Intrauterine Devices, if required, as the service develops

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- First Level Registered Nurse
- Relevant Qualification in Contraception / GUM or willingness to undertake a recognised qualification within two years of commencing post

**Desirable**

- Educated To Degree Level or Equivalent
- Mentorship Qualification or relevant experience.
- Teaching qualification or relevant experience.
