This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the busiest and fast paced environments within the Trust as Service Manager for Emergency and Acute Medicine  at our L&D site.  Working as part of a large diverse multidisciplinary team,  the successful candidate will be a core member of the operational and tactical team, supporting the delivery of urgent and emergency care across the Emergency Department and Acute wards.  There will also be opportunities to work on key service developments and support the development and delivery of strategic plans for the services.

The post holder will work alongside the triumvirate leadership team to support the day to day operational running of the emergency department acute areas, and take a critical role in the development and delivery of service improvements.

The team are seeking a forward thinking, energetic and dynamic person for this role. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring NHS leader to gain invaluable experience and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to improve patient care and experience.

### Main duties of the job

The Service Manager for Emergency and Acute clinical service lines has responsibility for managing all aspects of operational delivery within the relevant sub-division of a clinical specialty to agreed quality standards and within the resource and income base available in a large Clinical Specialty.

To ensure that service delivery standards are achieved.

Work collaboratively with the General Manager, Clinical Leads, Matron, other Clinical Services, and other colleagues to ensure that service delivery and improvement plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.

Ensure that financial controls are established and maintained within the scope of the clinical specialty.

Act as a champion for patient safety, operational effectiveness and quality.

Work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust to drive the achievement of the Trust’s corporate goals and business plan, including the achievement of all the relevant clinical specialties performance standards incorporating quality, safety, contractual, financial and people.

Lead by example and act at all times as an ambassador for the Trust, championing the Trust’s values and upholding the highest standards of behaviour and compassion for all colleagues.
