Sirona Care & Health operates multi-professionally led, place-based urgent care services across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire. South Bristol Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) provides same-day urgent care for patients presenting with minor injuries and minor illnesses. The service is open 8.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week.

We are currently recruiting for a motivated Band 7 Urgent Care Practitioner (ECP/ENP/Specialist Paramedic/Extended Scope Physiotherapist) to join our team at South Bristol UTC.

In this role, you will undertake the comprehensive assessment, management, and referral of a diverse range of service users presenting with urgent injury and illness. The position also includes supporting junior team members, conducting remote consultations, providing shift leadership, and contributing to service improvement through audit and project work.

### Main duties of the job

- Autonomously provide patient centred care, including assessment, shared care planning and appropriate referral of service users.
- Undertake a variety of consultation types including face to face, telephone and video.
- Utilise advanced clinical examination skills to support diagnostic reasoning and patient centred care plans.
- Utilise Patient Group Directions or Independent Prescribing (desirable) to appropriately manage patient presentations.
- Undertake shift leadership role to ensure the smooth running of the department. This will include prioritisation of workload based around available resources, support for the clinical and non-clinical teams, acting to ensure the safety of patients and team members and liaising with management and external partners.
- Support unit safety by effectively carrying out initial assessment and prioritisation of presenting patients.
- Provide clinical expertise and advice to colleagues and junior practitioners. This will include formal mentoring of junior colleagues and healthcare students.
- Support the UTC management and colleagues to deliver robust clinical governance and service improvement programs.
- Use of your skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver safe and effective care to our service users

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience in a Urgent or Emergency health care setting (including Primary care)
- Experience working as an autonomous practitioner in a Urgent or Emergency health care setting (including Primary Care)
- Experience of clinical leadership
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of minor injuries and illnesses with a wide range of approaches to autonomous management of patients
- Demonstrate ability to work with complex clients and situations and a clear ability to problem-solve

**Desirable**

- Up to date IRMER qualification
- Ability to interpret x-ray films
- Experience or qualification relevant to remote clinical assessment
- Experience using Patient Group Directions (if not IP qualified)
- Experience undertaking advanced wound care, limb/joint reduction and immobilisation

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Professional Registration with NMC or HCPC
- Relevant undergraduate qualification
- Postgraduate qualification - Urgent or Emergency Practitioner (or similar)

**Desirable**

- Independent Prescribing qualification
- Mentorship/Supporting Students in Practice qualification
