Join our dynamic Endoscopy team as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, support the day-to-day coordination of the unit and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

You will be involved in caring for patients throughout the endoscopy pathway including admission, pre assessment, procedure, recovery and discharge. The role includes assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, supporting patient flow and maintaining high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.

Applicants must hold a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council registration and have recent experience within an endoscopy setting.

Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills are essential. Experience supporting junior staff, students and quality improvement initiatives is desirable.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide clinical leadership and support the daily operational management of the endoscopy unit.
- Deliver high standards of patient-centred care throughout the patient pathway including admission, pre assessment, procedure, recovery and discharge.
- Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures while maintaining patient dignity, safety and comfort.
- Coordinate patient flow and support efficient utilisation of clinical capacity and resources.
- Supervise, support and mentor junior staff, healthcare assistants, students and new team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation, incident reporting and audit requirements in accordance with Trust policies.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, decontamination standards and safe handling of endoscopy equipment.
- Recognise and escalate deteriorating patients appropriately and participate in emergency situations when required.
- Support quality improvement projects, audits and compliance with Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) standards.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and high-quality service delivery.

### Experience

**Essential**

- More than 3 years’ experience in endoscopy as a staff nurse
- Experience caring for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
- Experience coordinating shifts or supervising staff
- Experience mentoring students or junior staff

**Desirable**

- Experience in specialist procedures such as ERCP and EUS
- Experience participating in service improvement projects

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Adult) – NMC registration (Part 1)
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (Adult Nursing)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification

**Desirable**

- Mentorship/ Practice Assessor or Teaching Qualification
- Relevant post-registration qualification in Endoscopy/Gastroenterology

### Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Knowledge of endoscopy procedures, patient safety, and recovery care
- Understanding of infection prevention, decontamination, and safe scope handling
- Ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients and emergencies
- Good leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
- Competent IT and documentation skills

**Desirable**
