## Job Content

### Job overview

Are you a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with experience working with children and families? Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive and specialist environment?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join Evelina London REACH, our specialist outpatient upper limb rehabilitation service. This nationally and internationally recognised, OT-led service delivers evidence-informed rehabilitation for infants, children and young people (0–18 years) with neurological conditions, including those at risk of movement difficulties following early brain injury.

The post holder will work across the Evelina REACH asymmetric and tone management  pathways, integrating expertise in upper limb rehabilitation, motor impairments including asymmetry and tone management. The role involves providing specialist assessment and management of children and young people with movement difficulties, considering the impact of motor impairment, asymmetry and tone on functional performance, participation and achievement of individual goals. As part of a protocol-driven service that encourages reflective practice, you will actively deliver rehabilitation in partnership with parents and community therapists.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver and coordinate rehabilitation programmes before and after interventions where indicated, including splinting, casting and activity-based rehabilitation approaches, ensuring that interventions are aligned with family set personalised goals to optimise function, participation and quality of life.

The tone management pathway of the Evelina REACH service works alongside a consultant in paediatric neurodisability focussing on the management of tone and its impact on the functional skills of the young people accessing the service.

Across both pathways, this role involves providing specialist assessment, advice, and intervention, using modalities such as bimanual therapy, a hybrid model (involving modified constraint-induced movement therapy followed by bimanual therapy), task-based goal-directed occupational therapy, splinting and casting. You will support children in achieving meaningful goals focused on functional skills and independence in self-care, school work, and leisure/play, delivered in collaboration and partnership with their families and local teams requires close liaison with partners.

You will be able to critically appraise literature in occupational therapy and may participate in departmental audits or research projects, as well as professional development opportunities within both team and hospital-wide programs, supervising students, and participating in in-service training and joint working.
