An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary Safeguarding Hub. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated practitioner to help drive forward a high quality safeguarding service. As a senior member of the Children's Team you will play a critical role in improving outcomes for children, with a family focused approach.

The post holder will provide specialist advice, support and educative services to colleagues, children and families in this fast-paced, dynamic but safe and supportive environment, that encourages personal and professional development.

Please Note:

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK independently, with a visa or immigration status that allows them to fulfil the full duration and type of contract offered. The Trust is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will co-ordinate and manage the day to day safeguarding of all children who access our services. They will be proficient in the assessment of risk and harm and contribute to the delivery of effective, timely and proportionate safeguarding responses.

They will provide specialist advice, supervision and support for all staff in all aspects of safeguarding children practice. They will be responsible for identifying risk factors, protective factors and safeguarding need which requires a strong analytical ability, sound professional judgement and excellent communication skills and ensures that decision making is robust, evidenced-based and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for leading and supervising the assessment of babies, children and young people in relation to their safeguarding needs.

Responsible for leading and supervising the day to day implementation of safeguarding plans of care and the evaluation of their effectiveness.

Responsible for supervising the Paediatric Liaison Safeguarding Nurse

Advise and support staff in safeguarding assessments in relation to risk and harm

Take the lead in supporting parents, carers and other family members

Contribute to reviewing and amending local operational guidelines and policies

Oversee Emergency Department attendances, ensuring information is passed onto community services in a timely manner

Have oversight of admissions to the children's ward, ensuring that the liaison process is efficient and effective

Attend and represent the Trust at safeguarding meetings

Acts as a source of specialised knowledge and clinical expertise in relation to safeguarding practice

Responsible for ensuring Team visibility across the Trust

Act up for the Named Nurse in their absence

Develop and delivery programmes of level 3 safeguarding training

Develop and delivery a robust programme of safeguarding supervision

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Extensive experience of working with children and families in need of safeguarding and protection
- - Previous experience of working in a safeguarding speciality

**Desirable**

- - Experience of providing direct supervision to health professionals
- - Experience of developing and delivering multi-professional training
- - Ability to manage change in practice effectively

### Knowledge and skills

**Essential**

- - Able to demonstrate a wide range of expert knowledge in relation to safeguarding theory and practice
- - Knowledge of statutory guidance and legislation regarding protection of children and adults.
- - Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for quality, patient safety, and safety of staff.
- - IT Literate
- - Ability to challenge practice respectively

### Education and training

**Essential**

- - First degree level or equivalent experience
- - Current NMC registration
- - Evidence of CPD

**Desirable**

- - Public health qualification
- - Management course
- - Child protection qualification
- - Mentor course/998 or equivalent
