The Acute Medical Unit is looking for an experienced, adaptable, forward thinking and enthusiastic Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse who is committed to providing excellent leadership to our high performing nursing team in our 33 bedded unit.

As a senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be ambitious, highly motivated and have excellent organisational skills.  We looking for applicants who are passionate about providing and supporting the delivery of high quality, safe and evidenced based care ward working closely alongside our well established multi disciplinary team.

You will care for and support your team to care for a wide variety of patients requiring a high level of clinical input and as well as those with diverse health conditions from many specialties in an exceptional and well equipped environment.

Previous experience of caring for high dependency patients and staff management is desirable as you will work closely with many specialty teams including our critical care outreach to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver patient care on a daily basis. They should be expert in all areas of nursing care from patient’s admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development. They have overall responsibility for day-to-day management of their clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records. They will manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care, which is of a high standard. They will facilitate and support patient flow across the emergency floor and transfers to the wards. They will manage unit staff including appraisal, rota’s, recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners. They will provide specialist advice to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources and managing governance. They will lead the department through the achieving excellence program and be a pivotal role model within their speciality upholding the trusts values and behaviours at all times.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse Part 1 or 12
- Teaching qualification ENB 998 or City & Guilds 730 or equivalent

**Desirable**

- D32/33 \[A1\] Award

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Experience at band 6 or above within acute hospital setting
- Evidence of advanced skills in practice i.e. iv additives
