What you will bring to the role In this role you will have the opportunity to: - Lead the coordination and management of junior doctor and medical staffing rotas within the Ophthalmology Service. - Work closely with consultants, operational managers, Medical Staffing and the Medical Deployment Team to ensure safe and effective service delivery. - Make independent decisions to resolve rota gaps and secure appropriate staffing cover, often at short notice. - Play a key role in workforce planning, including coordinating annual leave, study leave, sickness absence and staff rotations. - Support the recruitment, induction and onboarding of junior doctors, ensuring they have everything they need to start in post successfully. - Monitor staffing levels, identify potential risks and provide regular reports to senior management to support informed decision-making. - Contribute to service improvement by developing efficient rota management processes and administrative systems. - Line manage administrative colleagues, supporting their development and helping to create a high-performing team. - Manage medical staffing resources within agreed budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of locum cover. - Build strong working relationships with a wide range of colleagues across the Trust, external agencies and partner organisations.
