The purpose of this post is to facilitate recruitment to and the management of the DIRECT Study: Delivery and Implementation of a Randomised Cluster Crossover Trial on Thrombosis (NIHR 159321). DIRECT will determine whether a first-line thromboprophylaxis management strategy including aspirin is non-inferior in terms of clinical effectiveness and safety, and cost-effective, relative to a first-line VTE thromboprophylaxis management strategy including low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in adults aged over 60 years with a hip fracture. It is a cluster randomised controlled trial where data collected will be from routine data sets. With a total of 94 centres, this post will need to liaise with thromboprophylaxis committees and orthopaedic teams at each site so that each hospital is fully understanding of the trial and the need for it. The postholder will be the central point of contact for these teams. The post holder will be a core part of the study team, working with haematologists across the UK to enable the policy change and to be a primary contact for clinical questions.
