An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, appropriate experienced nurse to join the Ambulatory Trauma and Orthopaedic Service, Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for providing high quality care of orthopaedic trauma patients within a specialist service, assessing patients’ needs and developing relevant programmes of care, whilst acting as the patients advocate. The post holder will assess clinical and radiological evaluation of patients competently and autonomously and make decisions using clinical and professional judgements, utilising agreed protocols.

The post holder will support the Charge Nurse and, in their absence, regularly manage the clinical area to ensure effective operation is maintained.

The post holder will work autonomously to provide nurse led fracture clinics for the clinical evaluation of patients that have experience in orthopaedic trauma. The nurse will deliver the virtual fracture clinic daily in conjunction with an Orthopaedic consultant. The post holder will work within the plaster room and manage clinics. The post holder will work autonomously and use specialist clinical experience and knowledge to review, support and provide advice to patients, carers and allied health professionals. Seek support and guidance from the Senior Charge Nurse or Consultant when appropriate or required.

The applicant must have a current knowledge and experience working within orthopaedics and trauma, be able to work independently and have good communication and organisational skills.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
