### Job overview

Our urgent and Crisis service supports people at the toughest moments in their mental health journey. When someone reaches out for help, we act fast, arranging crisis assessments and follow‑up support within 4 to 72 hours, guided by the UK triage rating scale. The most urgent calls are prioritised and every decision made in the team has a real impact on the persons treatment and recovery.

As as Senior Recovery Worker, you’ll be part of a service that runs  7 days a week, including bank holidays.  It’s a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment where no two days look the same and where teamwork genuinely matters.

### Main duties of the job

The Senior Recovery Worker will:

- Provide telephone-based and face to face support to users and carers who require interventions, often when they are in crisis and distressed.
- Act as second person when completing a crisis assessment, with specific focus on social aspects of a patient’s life.
- Complete referrals and signposting to relevant agencies/services.
- Deliver timely and specific mental health interventions as part of the 72 hour follow up off after a crisis assessment.
- Use active listening and basic counselling skills.
- Liaise with other colleagues  in the team to discuss appropriate care
- Adhere to all Trust policies with regard to Information Technology, confidentiality etc.
- Assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
- Attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.
- Participate in continually evaluating their own practice and the effectiveness of the service.
- Participate in evaluating how users and carers perceive the service they have received from the service.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest standards, through active participation in both mandatory and supplementary training.
- Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and relevant professional codes of practice.

Providing support to service users and the team in
- To work in co-production with clients and other members of the team, providing personalized, collaborative care plans. These will emphasize recovery, social inclusion, vocational rehabilitation and promote good physical health and wellbeing.
- Alongside other professionals, to assist in planning and implementing focused and timely interventions for individuals.
- To develop creative and flexible ways of working and strong links and partnerships with local providers for the benefit of service users.
- To empower and involve service users in the design of their own care and in the delivery of this and the wider service provision.
- To empower and involve service users in the design and delivery of their own care within the service and in the wider service provision.
- To use creative ways of engagement and forming professional working relationships.
- To offer a flexible service, which supports service users in times of distress or mental health relapse, involving relevant others where necessary, and increasing support on a reviewable basis.
- To ensure that when functioning as a lone worker the appropriate lone worker guidance is adhered to.
- Provide accurate, legible and complete information consistent with legal and organizational requirements as appropriate.

- Knowledge of treatments and interventions used in mental health services
- Ability to clearly communicate complex, sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to plan & priorities own time/workload effectively
- Knowledge/understanding of the signs, symptoms and effects of mental health problems
- Ability to develop/co-produce individual collaborative care plans to meet the assessed needs

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of community mental health services in Sheffield
- Well developed IT skills including competent use of Microsoft Office, and the use of electronic patient record system

### Training and qualifications

- NVQ level 3 in mental health or equivalent experience in mental health setting
