This post is for a candidate with Nuclear Medicine experience and an interest in Paediatrics. The Nuclear Medicine department provides diagnostic imaging for patients from 0- 18yrs old with a variety of conditions. The procedures you will be involved in include renal, lung, gastric, neuro and oncology examinations. The department currently has 3 gamma cameras including an Intevo SPECT CT. The department will also be expanding into the new GOSH children’s cancer centre including installing state of the art PET/CT. You will be joining an existing team of Radiographers including the Superintendent Technologist, Band 7 Static Nuclear Medicine Radiographers/MTO and Band 6 Rotational Radiographers. It would be expected that the post holder would be employed on a 9-5 Monday to Friday shift. You will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team in providing this service. Good communication and leadership skills with excellent team working abilities are essential for this post. Research opportunities and study leave are actively encouraged and staff within the department take active roles in national and international conferences. ### Main duties of the job - To carry out all aspects of paediatric Nuclear Medicine duties within the Imaging Department to a high professional standard - Undertake highly specialised Nuclear Medicine imaging techniques that require the operation of advanced acquisition and processing software with excellent hand-eye co-ordination - To assay and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients and record activities as per department protocol - To organise and prioritise the daily workload efficiently, ensuring that all patients are seen on time - To promote effective communication with the clinical teams and ward staff and other departments to ensure patients are appropriately prepared for their investigations - To supervise and train junior radiographic staff in all aspect of paediatric nuclear medicine imaging. - To supervise student radiographers on elective and mandatory placement in the Trust - To ensure there is sufficient staff with appropriate skill-mix is allocated to own area for the safe operation of the equipment and patient safety ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required.
