Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - Community Adult Eating Disorder Service

This is an exciting opportunity in a well established psychology team and wider Multi-Disciplinary Team. The Community Adult Eating Disorder Service (CAEDS) is a specialist team offering assessment and treatment to adults in Essex with moderate to severe eating disorders. This post is based at the Derwent Centre, Harlow. It will primarily cover west and south Essex, although may also involve working across mid and north Essex.

Depending on experience this post can be offered as a developmental post/ preceptorship, in which case the successful candidate would initially be appointed at band 7 and would be supported to gain the knowledge and experience required for the band 8a role.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to adults with eating disorders in a community out-patient service. Where appropriate, the post holder will also take a lead in ensuring that family therapy or family interventions are available to those seen within the service.

The post holder will be required to:

- Work across locality and interagency boundaries to meet the needs of a highly complex client group.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
- Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
- Offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist/psychotherapist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.
- Use appropriate evidence based psychological therapies for example CBT-E, MANTRA and Family Therapy.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology and research design.
- Evidence of continued professional development as recommended by the relevant professional or registering body
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in treating eating disorders

**Desirable**

- Completed supervisors training
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health speciality

### Experience

**Essential**

- 2 years post-qualification experience in an eating disorder service
- 12 months experience in an eating disorder service as a trainee psychologist

**Desirable**

- Experience of supervising qualified psychologists

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- Doctoral level training in applied psychology, accredited by the BPS
- HCPC Registered/ eligibility for the register if newly qualified
