An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join the innovative Blackburn with Darwen Trailblazer Programme, a nationally recognised initiative designed to transform the way mental health support is delivered in our community.

The Trailblazer is a unique collaboration between Sport England, Blackburn with Darwen Council Health and Wellbeing Service, University College London, and Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Talking Therapies (NHS TT). Together we will deliver an innovative intervention model that integrates evidence-based psychological therapy with structured physical activity to support improved mental and physical wellbeing.

As a Senior PWP, you will play a pivotal role in delivering this ground-breaking programme. You will work closely with established partners, including the Borough Council’s Health and Wellbeing Service and the Social Prescribing Team, contributing your expertise to ensure high quality, person centred group interventions.

This programme is funded to run from 2026 until March 2028, offering an exciting opportunity to influence service development, support innovation, and make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of local communities.

### Main duties of the job

- To provide a high quality Talking Therapies service to people aged 16 or over with common mental health problems including those with a degree of complexity.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Trust and local policies and procedure.
- To provide high quality clinical supervision and mentoring to PWPs including trainees supported by the regular integration of caseload management principles within clinical supervision provision.
- To deliver and support the delivery of a Talking Therapies service in accordance with NICE guidelines, to meet key performance indicators and agreed activity levels.
- To provide advice and consultation on clients’ care, to other colleagues and non-professional carers.
- To utilise research skills to support audit, service development and research within the areas served by the team.
- To work with and support the team lead and Service Manager in actively managing waiting lists
- To promote wellbeing and social inclusion.
- To work flexibly and in accordance with service demands.
- To work to the agreed number of clinical contacts per week as set by the Team Lead.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Highly developed interpersonal skills and communication skills both oral and written.
- Evidence of ability to organise own workload.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of NHS structures and policy within a primary care context.
- Knowledge of mental health referral pathways and procedures.
- Knowledge of psychotropic medication and mental health diagnosis.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial post qualification clinical work in a Talking Therapies setting.
- Demonstrable competence and experience in the therapeutic interventions that the post holder will be supervising, with experience of the provision of clinical supervision in accordance with NHS Talking Therapies guidance. - Experience of working with a diverse client group with a wide range of presenting problems and significant levels of distress.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered as PWP by BABCP or BPS (completed or pending).
- Completion of a suitable accredited course E.g. PG Cert PWP Training or Graduate Mental Health Worker Qualification with certificate of exemption from the NHS England PWP Competency Scheme
- Qualification in clinical supervision
