### Job overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician who is committed, motivated and wants a role in supporting others to develop.

The postholder will be a qualified Pharmacy technician and the post has been created to support the delivery of teaching for this newly launched University of Bath MPharm Pharmacy degree at the University of Plymouth as well as to support with the supervision of trainee pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) and pharmacy support staff at University Hospitals Plymouth.

This post will be 50% split between University Hospitals Plymouth and University of Bath primarily based on the University of Plymouth campus. The split will be 3 days per week at university and 2 days per week at hospital during term/ semester time, and vice-versa during non- term/ semester time.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

### Main duties of the job

- Support and deliver undergraduate practical sessions in Applied Pharmacy Practice, helping students to develop real-world skills required in modern pharmacy settings.
- Supervise trainee pharmacy technicians during their training period, ensuring that they complete all required criteria and outcomes.
- Supporting the wider team with foundation trainee pharmacists and newly qualified pharmacists pharmacists training, ensuring that all the required competencies have been achieved.
- To be an accredited medicines optimisation pharmacy technician and be accredited for accuracy checking.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Carry out core pharmacy technician duties as in a hospital or community setting, including the ordering, recording, storage, and management of medicines and consumables.
- Provide practical support, guidance, and feedback to students during simulated dispensing and patient-care scenarios, drawing on real-world professional experience.
- Provide support for practical teaching sessions, including inductions and training of staff and students in the safe use and basic operation of equipment
- To supervise and support hospital ward-based training and assist in the development of trainee pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacy technicians’ (PTPTs) professional development portfolios relating to medicines reconciliation, medicines optimisation and discharge facilitation.
- To assist the Lead Pharmacist Education and Training with providing the on-call training programme and in-house competency logs for junior or newly appointed pharmacists
- To teach appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable others within the hospital setting to be competent.
- To manage and maintain a portfolio of own personal and professional development including undertake CPD.
- To undertake reasonable duties as deemed necessary by the Chief Pharmacist.

### Qualifications

- GPhC registered pharmacy technician
- National accredited final accuracy checking qualification
- Medicines Optimisation accreditation

**Desirable**

- Relevant HNC qualification or equivalent
- NHS Management qualification or other similar
- Internal Verifier Award
- CAVA Assessor Award or equivalent
