### Job summary

This post will support the: Assistant Practitioners - Pharmacy Supervisors: Stores and Distribution Management team on the relevant site with the day-to-day delivery of the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution service, which includes the supervision, organisation and training of the local Pharmacy Warehouse Operatives on site. This also includes supporting, and working with, the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution Operations Manager and the Assistant Practitioner - Pharmacy Supervisor: and with the implementation of service upgrades and new projects as required.

### Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Stores & Distribution team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provide ward stock medicines top-up and delivery to wards and departments throughout the Trust via the onsite top-up teams. The Leeds Pharmaceutical Warehouse service is predominantly concerned with receipt, storage and issue of medicines orders, with associated stock control activities. *Please note, these posts do not involve direct patient care We are looking to recruit 1 enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with drive to undertake the role of Senior Pharmacy Stores Operatives based in the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution team at Moor house Warehouse. Applicants must already hold NVQ Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy services/or training and experience to an equivalent level.

The successful candidate must be pro-active and flexible in their approach to working within this busy department and have excellent organisational skills.

For all posts, this will involve working across ALL sites at Leeds Teaching Hospitals as required.

Please be aware that for all posts there is a significant amount of walking and moving and handling, including bulk consignments.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of and ability to work under guidance of SOPs, GDP and COSHH.
- Knowledge of defined protocols and procedures and ensuring work activities are in accordance with these.
- Knowledge of stock control and the supply of medicines and consumables.
- Knowledge of equipment functional tests, inspections and verifications, and reporting equipment faults and deviations.
- Knowledge of infection control policies, in particular by practising Universal Infection Control Precautions.
- Knowledge of agreed safe working procedures and Health and Safety policies.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of the organisation and direct supervision of staff and activities.
- Experience of assembly, supply and checking of pharmaceuticals ensuring tight deadlines are met.
- Experience of stock control management and clerical duties.
- Experience of participating in stock control and assisting in ordering processes for medicines and consumables, including requisitioning, unpacking, checking, and booking in.
- Experience of carrying out reception duties to include handling incoming calls and routine enquiries.

### Other Requirements

- Required to work cross site.
- Required to work weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Able to undertake a high degree of physical effort; this role involves lots of walking, constantly on their feet, accepting deliveries of bulk stock including large volumes of fluids.
- Able to regularly pick boxes of fluids weighing approximately 10kg for transfer on to delivery cages.
- Able to maintain regular concentration for checking orders, reading picking lists and using the pharmacy computer system.
- Able to deal with problems from angry ward staff and know when to seek assistance from a senior member of staff.
- Willing to support staff training and staff development.
- Willing to contribute to the development of new ways of working and to the implementation of new and revised policies and procedures.

- Able to communicate with other healthcare staff and patients; this involves receiving and providing routine information which requires tact or persuasive skills.
- Able to use the pharmacy computer system.
- Able to undertake clerical tasks associated with the department e.g. filing, expiry date checks and data collection for statistics.
