We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic staff to join our modern purpose-built facilities at the Colchester hospital site.

You will be based within the Pharmacy department but will spend a significant amount of time working around the hospital site, ensuring the supply and delivery of medicines to clinical areas.

Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential.

ESNEFT recently completed a full site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system replacement.

In addition to our fully automated dispensaries, we host one of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice sites and the Regional Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit (including a brand new Aseptic facility).

About our Pharmacy Service

### Main duties of the job

Provide a holistic Medicines Supply service to both internal and external customers in line with agreed pharmacy standards.

Carry out a re-stocking service to the supply service customers.

Receipt pharmaceuticals into the department from external wholesalers and suppliers; checking invoices diligently and in line with departmental procedures; then storing within Pharmacy in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

Issue and prepare goods for dispatch to customers.

Assist the Principal Technician for Stores and Distribution Services in ensuring that all required medication safety and governance issues are actioned within the working environment.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Stock control procedures – including stock checking an and stock reconciliation
- Handling of medicines, including receiving cytotoxic medicines
- Goods in and Out procedures
- Pharmacy Key performance indicators (KPI’s)
- Medicines Optimisation

**Desirable**

- Distribution practices and supply chain logistics

### Experience

**Essential**

- Daily administration of stock using an electronic stock management system(s) – including stock checking and reconciliation
- Demonstrates effective communication skills through team working in complex/multi-disciplinary team environments
- Self-Managing daily workload - in a stock/stores/logistics environment
- Checking, storage and distribution of medicines or equivalent goods in regulated and controlled environments
- Acute/Community pharmacy stock management
- Experience of dealing with members of the public in a service capacity ensuring good customer service
- Working with all levels of pharmacy staff including management.
- Use of computers

**Desirable**

- Experience of Pharmacy Robotic systems
- Has provided training to junior staff
- Competent undertaking ward stock top ups
- Experience using databases and basic report writing
- Experience using Inventory Management Software.
- Experience using Epic Software

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Secondary education; GCSE Maths and English (Grade C / 4 or higher) or equivalent qualifications

**Desirable**

- NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/ Level 2 standard or GPhC recognised equivalent qualification.
