An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive team as a Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist. The work would involve working across the acute and community paediatric settings including clinics at the children’s centre, patient’s homes, schools and the ward at the James Paget University Hospital. The post would cover a diverse paediatric caseload but the postholder will predominantly lead in musculoskeletal and orthopaedics. The applicant will require a desire to work closely with children, their families and other key stakeholders within the children and young people sector. They will have demonstratable experience and expertise in paediatric musculoskeletal and orthopaedic practice.

Our team is part of the community Paediatric Team within the James Paget University Hospital so work closely with Paediatric Occupational therapists, Paediatric Dieticians, Paediatricians and children’s nursing team.

### Main duties of the job

To be responsible for a defined clinical caseload within the paediatric therapy department at Newberry Child Development Centre, James Paget Hospital (paediatric wards and clinics) and within the community.

To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To provide support, coaching and supervision to more junior members of the Paediatric therapy teams.

To ensure a high standard of care for each child working with all disciplines and agencies involved with that family.  To communicate with these agencies, parents, and children in an appropriate manner, often with sensitive information regarding diagnosis and outcomes.

To deliver interventions in a variety of ways including face to face clinics, groups and classes.

To teach parents/ other stakeholders handling and management skills as appropriate.

## Person Specification

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Leadership skills, including team building and supporting others
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload and support others with this whilst being able to work flexibly and proactively under pressure
- Ability to act as an autonomous practitioner with minimum supervision but recognise own limitations and know when to ask for support
- Communication skills including empathy, assertiveness and negotiation skills with the ability to build good rapport with a wide variety of people
- Evidence of forward thinking, using initiative, able to problem solve with positive approach and ability to promote change
- Ability to travel within the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. Must hold a full current driving licence or be able to make own travelling arrangements to fulfil the duties of the post, including visits to patients’ homes

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of experience working as an autonomous practitioner at Band 6 level within Paediatrics.
- Demonstrates specialist clinical skills including complex caseload management
- Experience of planning and implementing service improvement projects and utilising research into practice
- Evidence of acting in a supervisory manner, providing specialist guidance, training and support to other staff or students
- Evidence of reflective learning, demonstrates self-directed learning with a working knowledge of clinical governance and implications for own work
- Awareness of relevant professional practice, new research and guidelines and understanding of legal issues, safeguarding and mental capacity

### Education and qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma/Degree/MSc Physiotherapy
- Current HCPC registration
- CPD record should include evidence of up-to-date manual handling, in-service training and reflections of learning
- Undertaken a student/fieldwork educators’ course

**Desirable**

- Evidence of leadership training
