### Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist who is passionate about rehabilitation to join The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trusts Intermediate Care service. We are able to offer a full time permanent role and a 12 month secondment to the right candidates. The roles are based across our two bedded rehabilitation units at Davies court and Athorpe Lodge within Rotherham. You will be part of a well-established multidisciplinary team, supporting patients to reach their goals, regain independence and maximise their function to enable them to return to their own home environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for rehabilitation and delivering high quality therapeutic interventions.

### Main duties of the job

Provide a specialist high standard Occupational Therapy service to the adult population of Rotherham, including the supervision of band 5 therapists, support staff and students. You will be expected to manage a caseload of patients with varying complex needs and support timely discharges from the service. You will work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with therapists, nurses, social workers, carers/enablers, and other professionals. The role requires the ability to prioritise workload, respond to urgent situations, and maintain accurate clinical records using IT systems. You will demonstrate sound judgement, supporting junior and support staff, and contribute to safe, effective care through risk assessment and adherence to clinical governance and health and safety principles. The role requires experience of working in a rehabilitation, enablement, or community setting and the ability to support patients with complex physical, emotional, and psychological needs. This service delivers a 6-day service, and although the role is primarily Monday to Friday, you will be expected to contribute to the weekend working rota on a Saturday.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge and understanding of national legislation, guidance and regulatory framework including NSF, NICE, Information Governance, Equality and Diversity, Data Protection, Safe Guarding, Professional and Clinical Guidelines
- An understanding of Professional Standards
- Knowledge and experience of using standardised assessments and development of relevant outcome measures
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and implications for patient care
- Knowledge and evidence of participation in clinical audit and evidence gathering methods
- Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety in the work environment and implications for service area
- Evidence of clinical expertise and knowledge to Post graduate Diploma level developed through CPD and experience
- Demonstrates knowledge of equipment available and able to assess and fit where applicable

- Knowledge of continuous improvement through benchmarking and sharing and utilising best practice

### Experience

**Essential**

- Clinical experience of working within General rehab in the community rehabilitation specialty
- Up to date documented evidence of relevant CPD
- Experience of working within a multi-professional team
- Experience of elderly rehabilitation
- Experience of management of resources
- Experience of user/carer participation and engagement in review/development of services

**Desirable**

- Evidence of development and supervision of staff and students

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma/Degree in occupational therapy
- Current HCPC Registration
- Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

**Desirable**

- Membership of British Association of Occupational Therapist
- Completed recognised IT course e.g. ECDL/Elite/MOST
- Post-graduate qualifications relevant to rehabilitation
