An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Neurological & Gen Med Rehabilitation team at Clayponds Hospital, West London. This role would suit a clinician who wishes to develop their leadership skills while retaining a clinical role. As the Band 7 Occupational Therapist you will be expected to carry a clinical caseload and provide clinical leadership to the Band 6 and Rehabilitation Tech’s and Apprentice. You will work closely with the Band 7 Physiotherapist and Therapy Lead to develop and evaluate the service together. The successful candidate would be part of a supportive and friendly AHP team including Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Psychology, Therapy Technicians, as well as part of a bigger MDT of our Nurses, Doctors and Pharmacists. Rosemary ward together with Jasmin and Magnolia wards are an integral part of the wider Intermediate Care team based at Clayponds Hospital. Patients have access to a variety of equipment in a large unique gym space and additional specific designated ADL rooms. Patients receive specialist therapy input until they are able to return their to preferred discharge destination.

### Main duties of the job

- To work within the clinical team, managing your own caseload including assessment, implementing and evaluating treatment and applying specialist skills to support patients presenting with varied and complex conditions.
- With senior support, to provide clinical expertise in the prioritisation and treatment of patients within the scope of the conditions referred to the integrated care service.  To ensure that service provision supports the objectives of Ealing Community Partners and meets expectations regarding national guidelines
- Primarily to work on Jasmin and/or Magnolia Ward with the General Medical and Admission avoidance bed, but may be asked to cover the other neurological/general rehab wards as required.
- The post holder will ensure the service provision supports the objectives of the Trust.
- To train and supervise junior staff in the team and support students on placement
- To work with the senior clinical team in the development of a robust service delivery model, to facilitate the effective use of resources and execute the appropriate changes in order to meet the current demand.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial post graduate experience to include relevant specialist courses.
- Substantial experience within Physical health care at Band 5 and Band 6.
- Successful completion of field work educator training course and/or first line management course and/or experience of managing junior staff.
- Membership of appropriate specialist interest group
- Evidence of involvement in service development and/or service redesign programmes.

### Knowledge and skills

**Essential**

- Specialist knowledge and experience of assessment, treatment and care management in this specialist field.
- Theoretical knowledge of leading audit/research/clinical governance, and/or ability to plan, implement and manage change utilising knowledge and understanding of local and national guidelines.
- Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner
- Basic IT skills.
- Understanding of community support agencies and other professions, and ability to work and liaise with them.
- Evidence of good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes affecting the NHS especially those relevant to Occupational Therapy.

**Desirable**

- Splinting skills, or prepared to develop these skills.
- Understanding of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) & clinical indications for its use

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Occupational Therapy Degree or Equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council registration
- Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development.

**Desirable**

- Active Member of clinical interest group
- Member of RCOT
- Evidence of significant post qualifying development including MSc in a related subject or equivalent CPD
