Are you looking for a new role working with children and young people?

We are looking for a full time Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Highfield Unit - you will support our multi professional team in assessing, treating and evaluating referred patients, in order to enable continuity of care.

The role will include carrying out assessment directly for children and young people with the support of the team around you, additionally you will support the team to consider the needs of children and young people in the pathway and support greater understanding and consideration of occupational therapy in this space.

You will join a friendly and supportive, well-established, and knowledgeable multi-professional team. You will receive quality reflective supervision. You will use your skills to deliver quality assessments and influence service improvements.

You will have opportunities to grow in your career and continuing professional development. You will be a vital member of the team helping the system to understand the complete identity of the young person including their neurodivergence, mental health and developmental profile.

- To develop and provide a quality needs led Occupational Therapy service as part of the multidisciplinary team for the Highfield Unit.
- To provide an Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation process for referred patients in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, in order to enable continuity of care.
- To take a leading role in the development of Occupational Therapy services or specialist programmes for young people with mental health problems.
- The post will be delivered flexibly, with some evening and weekend work included.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of CPD maintained within a portfolio
- Member of the RCOT

**Desirable**

- Experience at Band 6 level
- Specialty specific post graduate courses
- Member of RCOT Special Interest Groups
- MSc/post graduate diploma

- Post graduate experience including a range of clinical placements within the NHS
- Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload
- Able to act independently and on own initiative, but recognise when to seek support
- Demonstrates well established knowledge of legislation, national policies and procedures relevant to children and young people.
- Supervision experience of students, unqualified and/or qualified staff
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills in pressurised and stressful environments
- Demonstrates well established knowledge of range of specialist Occupational Therapy assessment
- Competent IT skills for use of electronic health records and ability to adapt to new developments

**Desirable**

- Involvement in audit or research
- Experience working with young people with ASD and knowledge of sensory integration assessments.
- Experience of clinical governance
