We are thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated Senior Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Stroke Rehabilitation Team within Dudley Rehabilitation Service.

Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred therapy and collaborates closely within a supportive multidisciplinary team (MDT) to continually enhance our service. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while contributing to service development.

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will undertake key responsibilities, including the supervision and development of junior staff and students, as well as leading on aspects of training and service improvement initiatives.

### Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway in Dudley Rehabilitation Service; providing effective and efficient Physiotherapy for a caseload of patients who have sustained a Stroke.

Duties will include assessment, therapy (both group and/or individual as appropriate), planning therapy programs, self-management advice and discharge of patients, as well as appropriate delegation of work to assistants and students. Clinical work will be carried out both in patient’s place of residence and clinic settings.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working within a stroke and/or neurological rehabilitation service.
- Post-registration experience of working with patients who have long term neurological conditions or stroke
- Experience of working in a Multidisciplinary team

**Desirable**

- Experience at band 6 level

### Planning Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work under own initiative and in isolation
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Car driver with valid UK driving licence

### Management skills

**Essential**

- Able to travel to meet the needs of the job
- Able to perform therapeutic manual handling as required by the role
- Evidence of leadership skills within a clinical team
- Experience supervising junior staff, apprentices or students.
- Ability to contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives.

### Communication Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for role
- Good Interpersonal skills including observation, listening & empathy skills
- Good communication skills verbal and written
- Demonstrates the ability to teach, guide and support therapy assistants and students in clinical practice.
- Experience communicating with patients with aphasia and cognitive impairment.

### Knowledge and Training

**Essential**

- Completed junior rotations in core areas or equivalent rehabilitation experience across a wide variety of clinical settings
- Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice within stroke rehabilitation.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to stroke rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of current best practice of Occupational Therapy in stroke rehabilitation and national clinical guidelines
- Understanding of current NHS priorities and developments affecting stroke rehabilitation services.

**Desirable**

- Evidence of postgraduate study/training in stroke or neurological rehabilitation.

### Qualifications & Education

**Essential**

- Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate experience

**Desirable**

- Member of RCOT

- Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills in assessment and treatment planning.
- Ability to work autonomously within a specialist stroke setting
