Are you passionate about optimising functional performance for your patients in an acute clinical area? If so, this could be the role for you!

The Humber Health Partnership are looking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist for the Medicine team at Hull Royal Infirmary.

The post holder will work alongside colleagues to support the assessment of need across a range of clinical conditions with varying degrees of complexity.  As a skilled therapist you will have direct input into the assessment and treatment of patients on the Medicine and Frailty inpatient areas, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, prevent deconditioning, promote well being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life; with a focus on facilitating timely discharges in acute clinical areas in the Trust.

### Main duties of the job

We are seeking applicants with at least 12 months UK experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist, who can demonstrate a sound clinical foundation in practice and is ready to make the step up to a Band 6 role. Applicants should be able to adapt quickly to changing work environments and work well within a team.  You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build networks to enable appropriate partnerships with other agencies involved in patient care to both identify and address immediate and ongoing needs.

The post holder will able to assess in an effective and timely manner within a rapid paced environment. Confidence in enabling patients in personalised care, assessment of capacity, cognitive assessments,  manual handling, and functional assessments will be enhanced and nurtured within this role

Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holders will be supported to contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a Senior Therapist, the post holder will aspire to be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care, motivating their team to do the same.

## Person Specification

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration

**Desirable**

- Accredited student educator from UK-based higher education institution

### Skills, knowledge and ability

**Essential**

- Evidence of ability to demonstrate carrying a complex OT caseload in acute clinical settings
- Ability to evidence competencies in clinical practice – for example (but not limited to) - moving and handling, wheelchair/ seating assessment, cognitive assessment

**Desirable**

- Member of relevant RCOT special interest group or equivalent
- Working knowledge of local prescribing policy and practices for community equipment services
- Driver or has means to transport self in community

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- At least 12 months experience working as a qualified OT in the UK
- Demonstrable evidence of relevant acute healthcare/NHS clinical experience at band 5/band 6 level in the UK

**Desirable**

- Evidence of supporting junior staff/students as part of current/recent role
- Demonstrable knowledge of NHS patient flow policies and procedures
