The Nursing & Midwifery Workforce team in UCLH is seeking to appoint an experienced Workforce Utilisation Nurse with outstanding leadership skills and a passion for staff development, engagement and workforce planning. You will have a central role in supporting the delivery of excellence in healthcare by ensuring we have the right number of staff, with the right skills, values and behaviours at the right time and in the right place (NHS 2013, NQB 2016)

You will be an integral part of the Nursing & Midwifery workforce team, supporting our current strategy and developing and implementing new approaches to nursing and midwifery workforce utilisation, as well as opportunities for nurse led research to support initiatives to enhance our workforce, ensuring our organisation remains a destination of choice.

### Main duties of the job

The Corporate Nursing division is the office of the Chief Nurse, providing professional leadership and standards of practice to over 4,000 nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants within UCLH Trust. The division consists of the Nursing & Midwifery Workforce Team, Nursing Education Team, Harm Free Care Team, the PERRT team, PALs, Patient Affairs, Volunteers, and Chaplaincy.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience in line managing a team
- Ability to build professional relationships and rapport with staff of all levels including senior clinical, corporate and managerial colleagues
- Experience of developing workforce plans in line with future service requirements
- Experience in reviewing capacity and capability in the N&M workforce

### Requirements

**Essential**

- Knowledge of current NHS workforce-related strategies and initiatives

### Communication

**Essential**

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and a successful track record of influence and engagement

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Advance IT and report writing skills, to include but not limited to; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Zoom

### Knowledge and Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level registered nurse
- Educated to Masters level or working towards completion of a Masters programme within the next 12months
- Able to demonstrate wide knowledge of E-roster, safe staffing and workforce policies

**Desirable**

- Leadership Qualification
- Management qualification
- Safer Staffing Fellow or working towards
- Experience of N&M establishment setting tools e.g., safer nursing care tool / audit
- Competent in the use of IT skills, data management and report writing in relation to roster practice.
- Good knowledge base regarding clinical information systems and the appropriate application of IT to clinical practice
