### Main duties of the job

This exciting opportunity is open to a health care professional (senior nurse or AHP) to work on a year long project to provide a plan for the integration of a new cancer framework.

You would work closely with the Head of Cancer Nursing, the education team at UHS and the Wessex Cancer Alliance to implement the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme (ACCEND ).

ACCEND aims to reform career pathways, education, training and development for the workforce providing cancer care.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The following describe the key components of the role.

- Act as a visible clinical leader promoting ACCEND across cancer services and professions.
- Supporting the workforce to understand ACCEND, use it confidently, and see how it supports their development and career options.
- Helping line managers align appraisals, development plans and education with ACCEND.
- Provide structured feedback from frontline staff to inform local and regional improvement.
- Influence integration of ACCEND into appraisal, induction and education planning.
- Enable alignment between ACCEND levels of practice and local role expectations.
- Support baseline and ongoing understanding of workforce engagement with ACCEND (e.g. awareness, self assessment, ePortfolio use)

The role will suit someone who has coaching, mentorship, educational skills and experience to understand and access the range of learning, development, training and education opportunities to meet the requirements and aspirations of the cancer workforce across the different levels of practice.

Working alongside senior cancer staff the role will involve the enabling and supporting employers and systems to deliver high quality services to people affected by cancer by supporting workforce transformation and the health and wellbeing of staff.

This would suit someone who wants a secondment or additional hours of work for a current part time role or a senior person who is happy to take on a fixed term contract to complete a project.

### Qualifications, knowledge and experience

**Essential**

- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
- Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent level of knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
- Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
- Coaching experience and/or Mental Health first aid training
- Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
- Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
- Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
- Evidence of success in efficient and effective planning and managing multiple workstreams

**Desirable**

- Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
- Team leadership role
- Leadership Qualification / training
