### Job overview

We are looking for a committed and driven pharmacy technician to lead clinical trials in NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF) based at Hammersmith Hospital.

As a more recent initiative, ICRF is keen to hire a Pharmacy Technician with an interest in Clinical Trials to enable a smoother delivery of investigational medicines in ICRF on academic studies as well as commercial trials. The post holder will be based in ICRF but line managed by the Clinical Trials Lead Pharmacist and is expected to work in both departments.

The job involves trial set up, attending SIVs, preparing documents, maintaining electronic access to randomisation systems and similar, receiving IMPs, monitoring storage conditions and any other tasks required.

The post holder will also work in the pharmacy department to ensure stocks of IMPs are sufficient, order more as required and be in contact with the sponsor/sponsor representative for drug-related matters. They will also work with their pharmacy colleagues to prepare and dispense study medication to ICRF, ensuring accountability records and pharmacy site files are maintained. There may also be some cross cover at other Trust sites, especially St Mary’s Hospital where the Children’s CRF is located.

The Pharmacy Clinical Trials and Aseptics team work across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, offering a diversity of expertise and have developed an extensive research portfolio of commercial, academic and Imperial-sponsored trials.

### Main duties of the job

- The aim of this job is to provide the best Pharmacy service to volunteers and patients participating in clinical research studies in the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF). You are expected to set up Pharmacy procedures and documents as per study protocol, Trust and local policies. You will work collaboratively with the research team in ICRF and Pharmacy, and the wider multidisciplinary team as well as external sponsor and monitors.
- The post holder is expected to remain up to date with Trust and local policies and oversee quality improvement of pharmaceutical processes by continuous auditing and developing standards. You are expected to continue developing yourself professionally and academically by utilising the relevant training and support opportunities available.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Dispensary Experience
- Previous experience using electronic pharmacy or IRT systems
- Experience writing, reviewing and signing off on procedures including but not limited to SOPs
- Experience of managing temperature monitoring systems

**Desirable**

- Previous clinical trials experience, including set-up and close down
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience of working with ATIMPS and/or GMO
- Experience of audit and/or service improvement
- Computer literate and able to use standard keyboards.

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- Recognised pharmacy technician qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
- Registered Technician with the GPhC
- Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC

**Desirable**

- Accuracy checking training/ accredited ACPT
