THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING POSSIBILITY TO EXTEND TO 18 MONTHS

Help shape the future of weight management services in Wales.

We're looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to join a national transformation programme supporting the delivery of Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales and MyPath Cymru. You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside user researchers, service designers, clinicians, digital specialists and programme colleagues to design accessible, inclusive and evidence-based experiences for people accessing weight management services.

This is an opportunity to help improve how people access, navigate and engage with support across digital, community and clinical settings. You'll use research, data and insight to design services that are simple, effective and grounded in user needs.

### Main duties of the job

- Design accessible and intuitive interactions that help people access and use weight management services and digital products.
- Create and iterate user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs using tools such as Figma to explore and test ideas
- Work closely with user researchers to understand user needs, behaviours and challenges, and apply these insights to design decisions.
- Collaborate with developers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver user-centred solutions that are technically feasible and accessible.
- Champion accessibility, inclusion and assisted digital approaches to ensure services work for diverse communities across Wales.
- Represent user needs in discussions with stakeholders and communicate design decisions using evidence and insight.
- Contribute to design standards, patterns and continuous improvement across products, services and ways of working.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Senior Interaction Designer, you will be responsible for designing and improving complex digital services within a large-scale transformation programme. You'll translate research findings, user needs, organisational goals and technical requirements into clear, effective and accessible interactions.

The role involves planning and delivering interaction design activities, contributing to design direction, and adapting approaches as priorities or user needs evolve. You'll work closely with user researchers, service designers, developers and stakeholders throughout discovery, design and delivery.

You will:

- Design user interfaces and interactions that are accessible, usable and aligned to user needs.
- Create, test and iterate prototypes using appropriate design and prototyping methods.
- Turn complex, sensitive or conflicting information into simple and intuitive experiences.
- Establish and evolve design patterns, standards and best practice.
- Support agile delivery by working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Communicate design rationale clearly and help build shared understanding of user needs.
- Champion user-centred design and contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Support and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping to grow design capability across teams.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the design of services that support people across Wales, ensuring digital products and service experiences are accessible, evidence-based and centred on the needs of the people who use them.
