### Job overview

We are advertising for Senior Imaging Healthcare Assistants (IDA) to work within our expanding, forward thinking friendly Ultrasound department here at the James Paget University Hospital.

The department provides services 7 days a week (including evenings during the week). There are opportunities for a flexible working pattern.

This post is open to UK residents only. Only short listed candidates will be notified and please note that should we experience a high level of interest in this post, the vacancy may be closed prior to the stated closing date.

### Main duties of the job

The role of the IDA is to provide support for the sonographer and radiologist during the ultrasound examination and to care for each patient, maintaining their safety and dignity at all times. In addition to this there will be a need to manage the clinical rooms, cleaning duties and stock maintenance as well as liaising with wards and portering services when appropriate.

The successful candidates will have a professional and pleasant manner, good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team to provide a patient focussed service. They must be able to work flexibly, adapting to different scenarios which may arise within a hospital environment.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To assume responsibility for the daily maintenance duties in the examination rooms, ensuring all daily checks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- To help and assist in as many ways as possible to ensure the patient has an efficient yet sympathetic examination.
- To assist clinical staff with patient care duties.
- To take responsibility for actions whilst working alone.
- To integrate effectively into the team.
- To be responsible with medical equipment and be able to report faults efficiently and in a timely manner.
- To maintain elements of statutory training and adhere to COSHH regulations as required.
- To maintain a high standard of record keeping, both manually and electronically.
- To communicate with patients in a sympathetic and understanding manner.
- To liaise with wards and other departments in the hospital in a professional way.
- To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- To undertake any responsibilities which may arise in the interest of running a safe, efficient and effective service

- GCSE English Language and Maths to A to C or 4-9 or functional skills or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or willing to undertake a Level 3 apprenticeship in Senior Healthcare Support

- Care certificate
