East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust are now recruiting Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers for William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate and Kent & Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury.

The majority of positions are likely to be within our Surgical, Medical and Admission wards as well as the Emergency Department. Full-time and part-time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) are available but nursing is carried out 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year, so we do require full flexibility from you.

The NHS is currently experiencing a unique situation with unforeseen challenges the likes of which have never been seen before, East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust is the largest employer and largest provider of health care in the area and has risen to the challenge admirably. We have always firmly believed that developing our staff is key to both our success and our future which is why there are now a multitude of career opportunities available to our Healthcare Support Workers via the apprenticeship route, should you wish, making these posts the first step on your pathway to a career in health.

## Person Specification

### Governance

**Essential**

- Adheres to Trust policies
- Will comply with the Data Protection Act, CNORIS, Caldicott Guidelines and local policies regarding confidentiality and access to medical records.
- Act on the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors and employees.

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- Holds GCSE A-C or level 2 equivalent in Maths and English
- Holds a level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of care and related procedures, skill in clinical observations, knowledge of relevant legislation; short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties, completion of a competency-based workbook
- Completed Care Certificate

### Clinical Skills and Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with people ideally in front line patient care
- Basic computer/keyboard skills

**Desirable**

- Previous experience as an HCSW in an acute hospital
